			The Community Player Award Scholarships for 2010 In keeping with its long tradition of honoring youth in the greater Lowell area, The Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce, created an annual scholarship several years ago to honor the ideals of commitment to community and to demonstrate their long-standing commitment to the youth of our community. On June 22, 2010, The Community Player Award Scholarships will be awarded to a young man and young woman who are seniors in one of the Greater Lowell High Schools. The winners will be announced and awarded their scholarships at a home game of the Lowell Spinners. Call 978-459-8154 for more details.

Through the Chamber I was introduced to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank and have been able to volunteer my time and energy to that organization. A couple of weeks ago they did a food drive and myself and my 2 boys, Kyle 11 and Ryan 7, were able to drop off 100 bags at our neighbors homes and then a week later collect them and deliver them to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. My kids and I had a great sense of giving back to the community in which we love. I think it's very important to have kids start as early as possible to get involved with giving back. If it had not been for the Chamber I would probably never have known about the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. Thanks Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce!!! Bob, Kyle, and Ryan Gere
